Continuing work on the TARDIS Interior

General / 11 March 2022

Posting the animation of the TARDIS the other day really got me back into the mindset to start working on the interior again. Originally the plan was to render it all in V-Ray, but since I've been doing a lot in Unreal Engine 4 recently, I decided to have my first go at making a full project in Unreal Engine 5.

Progress so far on lighting the scene using Lumen

My plan with this is to be able to produce a high quality cinematic at the end, similar in length to the one I did with the Falcon, but more based on beauty shots, as opposed to one long shot. I also am hoping I can release the level so people can have a walk around it, but we shall see!

Finalising the TARDIS Interior Structure

General / 05 November 2021

I'm starting to come to the end of making the layout of the TARDIS. I'm going to be taking a couple of days break from this so I don't get sick of it, so I decided I'd post some progress as of this morning.

Starting Work on the TARDIS Interior

General / 04 November 2021

Yesterday I started work on making a blockout of the TARDIS Interior, and today I've started to flesh out the models a bit more. There's still a huge amount of work to do, but I'm happy with todays progress so far! I want to get all of the main models done, such as walls, main panels, chairs etc. before I start work on lighting the scene so I can see properly see how the light interacts with everything. Once this is done, I will then move onto make the smaller models such as the TARDIS controls and then start adding shaders to the scene.

It's not much to look at, but it's a start at least...

Adding more details to the TARDIS exterior

General / 02 November 2021

Today I've been working more on adding smaller details to the TARDIS exterior which I've never delved into before. The main focus today was making the phone within the hatch on the front doors.

I have also been working on a small cinematic which I should hopefully have fully rendered in the next few days! :)

Remaking the 12th Doctors TARDIS

General / 31 October 2021

After spending a whole load of time working on the Millennium Falcon, and also just starting up on a new year of university, I wanted to have a large-ish project going on in the background which I can go to and from every so often. I've just recently finished a rewatch of Doctor Who, and fell in love with the 7th-10th season TARDIS all over again, and decided to give it another go! I want to go into as higher detail as possible with it, and just see how far I can go! I'll try and keep this space updated with progress, but for now, here's a couple of renders of the WIP exterior model!

Continuing Work on the Solo Millennium Falcon

General / 27 April 2021

You may remember a few months back I was posting progress of the Millennium Falcon model that I was working on, well - due to my own stupidity, I lost the file (as well as many others), and due to that, decided for a while that I did not want to go back to it since I would have to re-do so much.

But now, I feel I am at a place where I can start again, and maybe its for the best. This time I'm aiming for much higher detail, and to work on it in a much better way - for my own sanity. I also want to make it entirely out of procedural materials, using 3DS Max alongside VRay. Today is my first day of working on it properly and I'm very happy with the progress so far, so here is me saying - More to come!

Starting work on a Class-546

General / 12 January 2021

Just like everyone else, the final scene from The Mandalorian Season 2 finale has been living in my head rent free since I first saw it. It's been in my head for a little while that I wanted to make some area of Moff Gideon's ship, and it makes sense to make the corridor that leads up to where the bridge is.

I was hoping this would be a smaller scale project as there was going to be only a few assets needed with a lot of duplication, but alas I was wrong. So this has gone to a small project to a slightly bigger project, and has thrown me off from my 'daily posts' as of late.

So I just wanted to post a few renders of how it's looking so far, with the hopes that I can get the rest of it modeled and textured by tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

Creating the Millennium Falcon from Solo: A Star Wars Story

General / 11 January 2021

Something I've been working on, on and off since I finished working on the Tantive IV, is the Millennium Falcon from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The falcon is something that I've wanted to make for such a long time now, but am always put off by seeing other 3D models already created, and thinking - how on earth could I match up to that!? On the same note, after watching and loving Solo: A Star Wars Story years ago, I knew I wanted to make something from that film, but have never known what - but now these two desires have combined. I felt the movie had a unique take on the famous falcon design, that I quickly fell in love with, so it only made sense to make it for myself!

Test render of the rear of the Falcon

What I wanted to do with this model is go higher poly than I have before, and fit in lots and lots of detail in the model, because how could you not when making the falcon?

Test render of the front - with smaller details almost complete

There is still a way to go, but I'm happy with how everything is going, but am working on smaller things on the side (such as the Jedi Image Caster which I posted yesterday) so I'm not burning myself out. All that is left now is to add some more of the smaller greebles and pipes to the body, and then the mammoth task of texturing!

I'll post again when there is something to update on, whether it is this project or something else.

For now though, may the force be with you...
